Linguistics and Voice Emission The notion ‘voice emission’ is often reserved only to artistic aspects of language. Nevertheless, just like in Ferdinand de Saussure’s description, a ‘notion’ is one with acoustic image (signifiant). When we try to describe linguistic performance, we should not focus only on linguistic issues, on syntactical or even articulation correctness. It is vice that is material of verbalization. It remains basis to further articulation transformations, it is the speech tissue. Plus, generating sound as a motor process closely interfere with mental process of transforming linguistic information. Correlation of these two spheres guarantees a complete speech generation, realizing purposes of the creative subject. The aim of the article is to attempt to describe and explain these mutual relationship using Willem Levelt speech generation model and, in this way, introducing system of motor phonation behaviour.KEYWORDS: voice emission, phonation and articulation process, linguistic performance, speech generation process, breathing at rest and dynamic breathing, verbal readiness, breathing support, natural voice |
